A Brief History of Sororities at Oklahoma State University
Local sororities have existed at Oklahoma State University (then Oklahoma A&M) since 1912. Kappa Delta became the first nationally recognized sorority to establish a presence at OSU on August 9, 1919.
Within a month, two more groups (Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Alpha Theta) founded their chapters, and by the end of 1923, three additional sororities that still exist to this day were added to their ranks. Today, the system known collectively as the Panhellenic Council, is comprised of 13 national organizations.
